Community-Based Participatory Research

For almost 20 years, the NC Farmworkers’ Project has partnered with academic institutions including Wake Forest School of Medicine, East Carolina University (ECU), Duke University, UNC – Chapel Hill, and UNC Charlotte to investigate research questions important to the lives of migrant and seasonal farmworkers. The Farmworkers’ Project has collaborated on numerous community-based participatory research projects to gather data on questions affecting farmworkers’ health, lives, and livelihood. Together we have investigated topics ranging from the effects of pesticide exposure on farmworker health to food insecurity in farmworker families to housing conditions for farmworkers in Eastern NC.
