Quirina Vallejos, President

Jennie Belle, Secretary

Jennie Belle was born and raised in Savannah, GA. She moved to Texas for her undergraduate education at Rice University, during which time she studied in Mexico, Peru and Argentina and participated in service projects in Central America. After graduation she moved to Spain for a year to teach English. Jennie then came to North Carolina for a dual degree M.Div./M.S.W. graduate program at Duke and UNC-Chapel Hill where her work focused on advocating for farmworkers and organizing churches for social justice. Jennie currently works at the North Carolina Council of Churches where she is the Program Director for Farmworker & Immigrant Rights.

April Pope

Mrs. April Pope grew up in Carthage NC, but currently resides in Benson.  She attended Campbell University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology.  She then attended the Physician Assistant Program at Wake Forest University, and upon graduation, she began her career in Family Medicine.  For the next 20 years, she worked mostly in rural areas, providing primary care for patients of all ages. In 2007 she began working with Benson Area Medical Center and started providing healthcare for farm workers with the NC Farmworkers Project.  Mrs. Pope is currently a fulltime Associate Professor in the Campbell University Physician Assistant Program.

Michael Durbin

Michael is a narrative non-fiction writer and technology manager for the banking industry. He has written numerous articles and blog posts about migrant farmworkers, and is an active volunteer with numerous community organizations. He joined the NCFP Board in March 2017.
